There is another term which is quite often used to describe the notion of industrial agriculture and this term is intensive farming. Basically, industrial agriculture in an outdated method but it somehow remains to be in use.

The main aspect of industrial agriculture is that it practices monoculture. What it presupposes is that  single crops are grown on large fields. The problem is that such sort of farming relies greatly on the usage of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. As a result, the soil is severely depleted.

Speaking about meat production in terms of industrial agriculture, it is important to remember that animals are often on a high-calorie diet which quite often presupposes that hormones and antibiotics are added so that to maximize the weight gain of a farm animal. It is not good for the animal and the meat is not as healthy as it is supposed to be.
