There is no need to do a deep research in order to make sure that gender stereotypes in films still exist. To be more specific, almost all heroic roles are portrayed by men while women are viewed as the weaker part of the society. Women play the roles of housewives as well as some other minor roles that have nothing to do with the development of the plot.

The good news is that the situation is starting to change, especially due to the fact that more and more people are paying attention to such issue as gender equality. Apart from that, female characters have started to appear more in films. One of such examples is Black Widow in ‘Avengers’ who is a strong and independent woman. What is more, she fits perfectly in the company of men and together they try to save the world. Another great example is the film ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ in which Imperator Furiosa who is a woman decides to fight for the destiny of other women as well as her own.
